Your domain name should reflect what your business is as far as possible. All of your branding, both online and offline, will be based on your domain name so it’s important to make the right choice.
The transfer process will vary depending on your domain provider, but don't worry. We can help you transfer your files, databases, and update all settings.
It is important to remember that your domain name comes up for renewal, usually every year. Longer term options are also available, up to 10 years, which you can discuss with us
Changes to the eligibility criteria
The .eu Regulation, published on 29 March 2019 in the Official Journal of the European Union, will repeal previous Regulations and enter into force from 13 October 2022.
On 12 June 2020, the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Committee approved the incorporation of the new .eu Regulation into the EEA Agreement.
All EEA countries have ratified the incorporation of the new .eu Regulation into the EEA Agreement, meaning that the citizenship criteria are extended to citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway as of 2 August 2021.
As of 2 August 2021, registration of a .eu domain name can be requested by any of the following:
In accordance with the Accredited Registrar Agreement, you (the registrar) must ensure that each registrant meets all eligibility requirements to register or renew the domain name.
Furthermore, the Accredited Registrar Agreement prescribes that you (the registrar) must ensure that the registration data of a domain name displayed in the web-based WHOIS is at all times the data of the registrant, and not your data (unless you can demonstrate that the registrant of the domain name expressly requested otherwise).
DNSSEC information is published in the output returned by the WHOIS database. The DNS will also tell you if a domain name is DNSSEC-enabled. You can check if a domain name is eligible for the DNSSEC discount by searching for the domain name in the Domain Management interface of the Registrar Extranet or via the info DNSSEC EPP command (EURid Release Notes May 2018 – GDPR Implementation, Code Breaking Changes, New EPP Command).
Before beginning the transfer process, you will need to ensure that your domain is properly set up for a transfer and that you have all of the required information. The process will vary depending on your domain provider, but there are general steps that are common between many registrars. Don’t worry. We can help you transfer your files, databases, and update all settings. You can contact us here and we will assist you
